Most of us can hold a verse for a day and lose it by the weekend. Reading it ten times on Sunday does not build the same memory as meeting it again on a schedule: tomorrow, a few days later, a week later, then further apart. That spacing is the whole method. The spreadsheet only keeps the dates honest.
A rhythm you can actually follow
Pick one passage. Write the reference and the words. Note the day you start. Then review on this cadence, counted from that start date:
- Learn — the day you begin. Say it out loud once.
- +1 — the next day
- +3 — three days after you started
- +7 — a week later
- +14 — two weeks
- +30 — about a month
- +60 — about two months
When a step is done, mark it. The next date should appear on its own. When all seven are done, call it mastered and leave it. You can always read it again. You do not have to keep it on the urgent list forever.
Miss a day? Mark the step on the day you actually review. The point is the repetition, not a perfect streak.
What to memorize
Short is better than impressive. One verse you can say is worth more than a paragraph you have to look up. Use the translation you already read. Write the words in the sheet so you are not hunting for them on review day — then close the sheet and say them without looking.
A topic label (peace, courage, wisdom, hope) is optional. It helps later, when you want to find what you have already learned instead of starting from scratch.
